The NKWK uses cookies for web statistics and research to gain insight into how visitors use the website. This information helps us to improve the site.
A cookie is a simple small file that is sent along with pages from this website and stored by your browser. The information stored therein can be used on a subsequent visit.
Piwik
We use the statistics program Piwik to analyze which pages are visited the most, how visitors came to our website and which search terms are used in our search engine.
For this purpose, just like any website, we collect IP addresses from our visitors. These are stored in so-called log files. The log files are stored on the web server for 5 days so that they are available to Piwik. After that, the log files are kept for 90 days for security reasons only and are only viewed for that purpose.
Measures have been taken to limit the traceability of visitors to our website as much as possible. We do this by discarding the last 2 octets (groups of numbers) of each IP address immediately after importing the log files into Piwik. This is done in a temporary memory before the IP addresses are stored in Piwik.
We collect the following data with the log files:
- cookies;
- IP address;
- user agents (browsers, operating system);
- search terms used to reach our website via external search engines;
- search terms used in the search engine on the website itself;
- links used within the website;
- links used to access our website.
Piwik retrieves this data from the web server's log files. These log files remain in the Piwik database for 31 days. Then they are removed. Then only an aggregated (merged) log file remains. This provides us with an annual report on website visits. Tracking cookies are cookies that can track visitors while surfing other websites. Het NKWK does not use tracking cookies. Therefore, the website does not support the DoNotTrack setting of browsers. The NKWK adheres to the legislation applicable in the Netherlands.
